Knowledge & Nibbles Quiz, Saturday 28thSeptember starting at 7pm. Teams of up to 6 persons at £3 per head which includes drinks and snacks, plus 2 rounds of “True or False” at 50p per round. Social Chapel Autumn Walk Jenny’s Jaunt to see Pauline’s Copse (weather permitting). Sunday, 15th September 2.30-5pm. Meet at Castle Street car park to combine cars to drive to Trespearne and walk to River Inney. For further information see Pauline Smith or Jenny Worth.
Thankyou to everyone who came and enjoyed Afternoon Tea at Elmslea. We are very pleased to tell you that we raised £289 to go towards the Christmas Child Shoe Box Appeal. If anyone is ready to start filling boxes I already have plenty available! Thankyou again Henry, Irene and everyone at Elmslea.
Harvest : If you have too much garden produce that will not keep until the Harvest Festival you can bring it into the Church porch on any Sunday before 6th Oct, where there will be a donation box for anyone to give towards the Harvest Sale. Thank you, David Allen (Action group).
Tuesday Group meets on 17th September at 7.30pm for their AGM followed by a Bring & Share supper
A correction to the plan - Lifton Harvest Festival. On Sunday September 22nd at 5.00 there will be a concert by Youthful Spirit, followed by a Harvest Tea. (not on November 3rd, as shown in the Plan).
There will be a Pastoral Visitors Training Day at Central on Saturday 5th October from 10.30 am to 3 pm for current pastoral visitors and anyone who has an interest in pastoral care. If you would like to learn more about the role of pastoral visitors please speak to Julia (without
obligation). You need to book your place on the training day in advance - details are on a poster in the church porch or see Julia Boundy (01566 781280).
The next Local Preacher’s meeting will be held on Tuesday 17th September, 7.30pm, at Lifton Chapel.
Donations from the last Film Night amounted to £36.
Wednesday Fellowship: Our new programme of meetings starts this coming Wednesday 18th September when we welcome Rev Doreen Sparey-Delacassa as our invited speaker. We look forward to seeing existing members of the Fellowship and also any new members - all will be made very welcome when we meet in the Dingley Hall at 2.30pm.
Action for Children boxes: Thank you to everyone who has given me their box for the annual emptying. If I have not already returned it to you, or if you have asked for a new one, please find it in the Church entrance hall on the book shelf. Thank you. Pat.
A charity night. Live music from the Blue Barons Oompah Band. Bar and Bavarian style food on offer, all profits in aid of Cornwall Air Ambulance. A request from Glen: Glen our caretaker has requested that those who wish to borrow equipment from the Church (eg tables and chairs, kitchen crockery etc.) check it out with him before writing it in the book.
